30 Days of Thanks | Day 15 – Youth Wrestling

Nothing can bring a smile to my face faster than watching an adorable bunch of little youth wrestlers running around!  They are like wild little bear cubs!  I have always had a love for the sport.  In high school, I was a wrestling cheerleader.   When my son was 5, I called my friend, Matt, who wrestled on my high school team, and asked him about what I needed to do to get my son into wrestling.  He suggested that we join the Matmen Wrestling Club.  Unfortunately, we missed their sign up so they referred me to another youth wrestling club in town.  A few months later, I was working as a scorer on a table at a youth wrestling tourney we were hosting.  The ref at the table just happened to be Brian.  Yes, I met my fiance by complete chance by being involved in something we both love…youth wrestling.  That was 9 1/2 years ago.  Today, Brian is the head wrestling coach at a local high school and runs the pre-k through 12th grade programs.  He is currently running an intro program that allows the kids to try out the sport before the regular season starts.  We are still car sharing so I had to tag along to his high school parent/athlete/coach meeting and then we stopped by practice for a bit.  Seriously, it’s the cutest thing you could ever see….love me some little kid wrestling 🙂  Even though James is no longer wrestling, I am thankful for youth wrestling, as it brought my family together and the sport of wrestling still plays a major role in our life today.  This is just a quick snap of my little wrestler, a long, long time ago!  (this picture still hangs on my fridge!)
