Stewartville MN Newborn Baby Photographer

I love sweet little newborn baby photos.  Babies are only this small for the shortest period of time.  It’s important to capture their little details so you can remember them forever <3  Scarlett and her family visited my studio to document her newborn stage and these turned out to be some of my most favorite images yet!  Matching your home decor is important.  We went with warm neutral tones so her parents will be able to display these images in any room of the house.  Also, Anna was raised with horses and still shows today so we wanted to incorporate her equestrian love into her session.  These saddle pictures turned out perfectly and Scarlett slept like an angel.  Delicate.  Timeless.  Innocent.

Stewartville Senior Elite Portrait Experience

Carissa was the lucky winner of the Elite Portrait Session from the POGS donation.  I love supporting our seniors so it is something I have donated to since 2015 as a way to fundraise for the senior post-graduation party.  The lucky guy or girl gets treated to an awesome Elite portrait experience.  Multiple sessions, multiple locations, even multiple seasons. The Elite session is really the best option for anyone looking to document their full senior year and capture all that is important to them.

First, we started planning Carissa’s Elite session with a consultation.  She had the opportunity to try on all of her outfits, discuss hair and makeup and plan out the locations.  Planning helps to make her senior portraits the best representation of what is important to her.

On session day, we started with a ring light studio session to capture a studio head shot.  It’s the best way to capture your hair and makeup before you are out in the elements.  Next stop for her Elite session, my favorite field of gorgeous white flowers.  I love how they are always in bloom during senior portrait time.

Carissa also wanted to have senior portraits in downtown Rochester, MN.  We started out in a private garden with the most beautiful flowers in full bloom.  Then stopped in the Gonda Building of Mayo Clinic with the gorgeous Chihuly Sculptures as a back drop.  We even capitalized on the impressive architecture of the outside building before taking her Elite session over to Historic Third.

Carissa definitely wanted to capture the ambiance with the lights strung across the sidewalk and the cute sitting areas outside the businesses like the Half Barrel, Tap House and Grand Rounds.  It’s hard not to feel like a model when you have an audience of patrons watching your session and complimenting how great you look!

We even got to capture her love for volleyball with an urban sportrait session.  No gym required 🙂

The Elite session offers us the flexibility with multiple dates so for our second session we were able to bring along Carissa’s cute little dog to one of my favorite Stewartville locations.  It also gave her the opportunity to have a completely different look with straight hair and more casual outfits.

To cap off the evening, we had a awesome sky for some images of her with her golf clubs.  Of course, I love being able to work in a great silhouette into all of my sessions!

So much variety and so many different looks.  Carissa, you killed it <3

Byron High School Senior | Rochester MN Urban and Scenic Portraits

Brianna is a stunning senior from Byron High School.  She wanted to hit up the urban scene in Rochester, as well as some awesome country scenic spots.  We hit the mark for sure!  Brianna invested in professional hair and makeup for her senior pics.  Thanks to Katie Kirkof from Glam Beauty Lounge for bringing our her inner beauty and confidence!  Professional hair and make up is a great way to give yourself a polished look for your photos.

We ventured through some typical downtown hot spots, but we definitely wanted images that would stand out from the other senior pics.  I added an edgy twist to our images in a very popular alley to keep her session unique.

We also wanted some head shots that captured her gorgeous hair and makeup.  It was so natural and highlighted her best features!  We swung by my home studio for a little fun with my ring light and some colored gels.  I love how these portraits turned out.

Brianna also wanted photos on a road in the country.  Of course, safety is priority number one!  We had spotters and help to capture her independent, fun-loving personality!  Finally, we headed to one of my favorite secret locations at golden hour to cap off her senior portrait session with the most gorgeous evening light and sunset.  Thanks Brianna for another great session <3

Urban Senior Portraits in Rochester MN

Urban senior photo sessions are one of the most popular requests we get as senior photographers.  We are lucky that Rochester has so many great urban spots to use as backdrops 🙂   Downtown Rochester was the request for Mayo High School Senior, Sam.

I am always thrilled when families come back to me for a second time or more for senior photos.  I had the pleasure of photographing Sam’s older brother Phillip last year.  You can check out some of his urban session HERE.  I always mix it up when shooting multiple family members so their sessions aren’t a carbon copy.  With that in mind, we took advantage of some of the areas north of the Peace Plaza for our session.

In addition to our urban alley scenes, Sam wanted to get some unique swimming photos as he competes for Mayo High School.  We had plans to do some images at a pool as well, but he was totally on board for Swimming Urban Sportraits as part of his session.  I love the edgy feel of these and Sam definitely looks like someone you would not want to battle against in the pool!

Sam had four different looks planned for his photos.  With all the great urban scenes, we were able to find the perfect spots to coordinate with each outfit.  And of course, who doesn’t love sliding down a railing 🙂  We had fun on our session and even drew spectators at each spot.

I love the industrial feel of our final location for Sam’s senior photos.  This building has gorgeous lines and the reflections in the windows gave a super cool aesthetic to our urban images.  You can tell how athletic Sam is and he was totally up for climbing poles, running and jumping around.  I mean why have stagnant senior photos when you can have fun playing around!!  We even nailed some awesome urban silhouettes at the end of his senior pics 🙂  If Sam didn’t go home tired, I would be surprised!  Thanks for another great evening in front of my lens Sam!

Epic Senior Portrait Experience | Stewartville MN Senior Photography

Senior portraits are important.  It’s one last chance to capture and document everything about your high school experience.  If you are like Libby from Stewartville High School, there are lots of sports and activities that are important to you.  These activities had a vital part of shaping who you are today and will undoubtedly have an impact on your future direction in life.  That’s why one simple session doesn’t always capture everything.  For Libby’s ELITE Senior Portrait Session, we planned out multiple sessions throughout her senior year to document her favorite seasons, sports and incorporate multiple locations to enhance her personality and style!  It was EPIC!

We captured 15-16 different outfits on three days of shooting and had so much fun doing it!  (Ha, I told you it was epic!)  Libby had a lot of options that captured her personality and brought the best accessories.  I always say bring more outfits that you think we will need and I will do my best to capture as many of them as possible.  With sessions on multiple days, we had the luxury of additional time to photograph all of her favorites 🙂  We were also able to include so many locations which gave Libby a ton of variety to her session and so many more images to choose from.  Libby describes herself as outgoing, athletic, casual, adventurous, sweet, academic and religious.  I would say we completely nailed each of those descriptions!

During our pre-session consultation, Libby mentioned that she would like to have pictures with a tree swing.  Challenge accepted!  I found the perfect tree swing and they ended up being some of her favorite images!  I love when Seniors have suggestions and requests to make their senior portraits stand out from everyone else.

This photo ^^^^^ (above left) was Libby’s favorite from her session <3  Doesn’t that alley have just the most gorgeous light?!  I have had so many people comment on how much the love that dress.  I completely agree!Libby felt completely at home dressed casually with one of her many hats!  She is totally a hat person.
Libby’s biggest accomplishment was winning state volleyball title as a sophomore!  She is also the current team captain.  We live in a town where volleyball is everything so Libby was completely on board for an urban sportrait session to give her images a completely different look.  That colored fog is totally epic!  Libby is always a bright smiley person so it’s hard to go long without her cracking a huge smile and laughing.  We did get to see her serious side and her mom and sister loved that look!During the winter, we hit the Stewartville High School gym for another session capturing her basketball skills!  The photo above was another of Libby’s favorites!  #wearetigersI always aim to capture a variety of images during all of my sessions.  Posed, action shots, dramatic lighting, natural light.  You will see it all!  As a three sport athlete, Libby is busy year round, but if you ask her which is her favorite sport, she will likely say track!  She plans to attend Bemidji State University and compete in track and field next year.  Libby runs hurdles, relays and high jumps for the Tigers.  We had fun capturing these images highlighting her favorite events and she got a decent work out in too!  Coach Dawn Miller would be proud 🙂

Libby, thanks for selecting me to capture these epic senior memories for you! I can’t wait to see what your future holds.
